1576年（天正4年）7月13日、織田信長と本願寺顕如との石山合戦の緒戦、大阪湾の木津川口にて織田水軍は毛利水軍を迎撃。村上水軍の精鋭の放つ焙烙火矢によって、織田水軍に壊滅的な打撃を与えた。瀬戸内海の覇権を巡る争いにおいても優位を確立し制海権を掌握。石山本願寺への補給線を確保した。
On July 13, 1576, at the outset of the Ishiyama War, the Oda navy clashed with the Mori navy at the mouth of the Kizu River in Osaka Bay.
Murakami forces, using horoku fire arrows, dealt a devastating blow to the Oda fleet. This victory secured control of the Seto Inland Sea and ensured supply lines to Ishiyama Honganji.
